Support for the USNG Information Center website is provided by theĀ U.S. National Grid Institute (USNGI). The Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2020 to advance adoption of the U.S. National Grid across federal, state, local, and tribal emergency response communities. Through education, advocacy, and technical support, USNGI works to break down institutional barriers and ensure that all Americans benefit from standardized location referencing during emergencies and disasters.
The Institute gratefully acknowledges the foundational work of SharedGeo, which created and maintained the USNG Information Center from 2010 to 2024. SharedGeo's dedication to promoting the U.S. National Grid laid the groundwork for ongoing educational efforts. Special recognition is also extended to the Center for Interdisciplinary Geospatial Information Technologies, Delta State University, in partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey under cooperative agreement number 07ERAG0083, whose efforts produced FEMA Regional USNG data sets and training materials that continue to serve the community.
